Shadows of Obligation

Performed at the Continuum Senior Thesis Concert at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, this introspective BFA thesis solo explored the art of performance as a dancer and a black queer individual. It also highlights the battle to not lose oneself in an effort to fit into others' expectations. How does one navigate fitting into spaces that no longer align with their desires and well-being?  At what point does one stop performing for the world and exist authentically?

Take It To The Cypher

Performed at February Dance 2024, this piece served as an ode to house music and street/club dance. It explores cyphers: how community is formed there, self expression, and how we feed off each other to push past our energetic limits. Additionally it gives appreciation and references African dances that informs modern-day Black dance.

Duality: Red & Blue

Performed at Intricate Nerves Expanded Bodies at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, this duet reimagined a process that explored bonds between individuals and expanded to explores the concept of coexistence and opposites sharing space. Serious and unserious, choreographic and improvisational, confidence and uncertainty. In a world full of oxymorons, how are both states of being valid? 

We Do This For Us

My debut choreographic work performed at Skeleton Dance 2022. This piece is an exploration and acknowledgment of the unconscious phenomenon of the adaption of habits as the world changes. Additionally it is an affirmation that we always remain who we are as unique individuals despite what we adopt from others.

Created in collaboration with Landon Allender and Margeret Daniels and performed at Skeleton Dance 2022, this piece was inspired by improvisational dance sessions that grew to explores time, conceptually and rhythmically, through forms of structured improvisation and collaborative choreography.
